In order to facilitate an efficient and smooth process we have detailed our procedure to assist you:

Step 1 Complete the Application

Complete the family application form.  Our application form is available as an on-line form on this website and will submit directly to us once you click on the submit button.

If you have any difficulties working with this form please call us and we will arrange to email a pdf from to you to use. 

Together with the application you must send in two references, a letter to a prospective au pair and some photos of your family.

We charge a non-refundable registration fee of $99 (gst incl). This fee is paid on return of your completed family details form. Payment can be made by cheque, direct deposit or credit/debit card. It allows us to open your file and begin sending you applications. Should you like one of our applicants and after the interview process wish to offer her a place then we charge a placement fee. (Please see our fee schedule for more information). The placement fee is payable on confirmation of a placement.

Step 2 View Au Pair applications

On receipt of your details, we will call to make personal contact and advise that we will now begin sourcing suitable candidates for your family. Where possible we will present between 1-4 candidate's applications to you by email. Please remember that we have short listed possible candidates and will send those who we feel are best suited to your situation. We ask, at this point, that you inform us, within 72 hours of receiving the candidate's details, whether you would like to interview all or some of the candidates. At this point your family profile is sent to our overseas associate to show to the candidate to make sure they are interested in being interviewed.

Step 3 Interviewing and selecting your au pair

JCR will confirm the au pair's contact details.  You email the aupair to set up convenient times for the interview. JCR provides a family interview guide and questions. Once the candidate has been interviewed we would then ask you to let us know within 24 hours if you are interested or wish to offer a placement to the candidate. We will contact the candidate and depending on, if there is some negotiation needed, we will confirm acceptance of the placement.

Step 4 Finalising the au pair placement

Once placement is verbally confirmed we will send you a letter of offer together with the Host Family Agreement to be completed & signed. We will forward the letter of offer and family agreement to the candidate for their acceptance & counter signature.

On confirmation of placement the finder's fee is payable.

All overseas candidates get a copy of rules applicable to being an aupair, orientation, childcare handbooks and a contact list of all other JCR au pairs. We also provide all new host families with a family handbook and the rules and handbooks made available to the au pair.

For overseas candidates we will confirm visa issuance and arrival dates.
We are available for assistance at any time during the placement term and our guarantee of 4 weeks begins from the date the candidate takes up placement with the family.
