AU PAIR IN SPAIN

You do not have to speak Spanish to be an aupair in Spain, land of fiestas and siestas, bull-fights, wine, incredible, fresh seafood and olive oil. Visit the wonderful castles, taste the Spanish nougat, experience ancient historical sites. Enjoy the beautiful beaches in the summer and explore the land of Don Quixote.

Au Pair Age group: 18 - 35
Females and males may apply

Education: Completed year 10 or higher

Childcare Experience:  Minimum 50 hours but up to 200 hours is preferred. This can be any fairly regular interaction with children not related to you, up to age 12. Experience with children related to you is acceptable but only in addition to that of non related children.

Period of Commitment:    3, 6 and 12 month placements all year round.

Summer aupair placement: Mid June - mid September only.  Applications open in October and close 31st March.

Winter aupair placement: end November to end February inclusive.  Applications open May and close end October. See additional information.

Visa: Student/aupair visa.

Holders of an EU passport are not subject to any visa conditions but they have to register with the Spanish authorities. EU passport applicants are not restricted by age and families will accept candidates over the age of 30.

Applicants to Spain must speak English well as families wish their children to learn to speak English.
You pay your own round trip return airfare
You provide your own health insurance cover.  
All positions are live in. All salaries are net of tax unless otherwise advised 

AU PAIR  

• Work for 25 hours per week.
• Childcare and light housework which could include, shopping, dusting, vacuuming, ironing.
• Baby sit for 2/3 evenings per week.Minimum 1 - 1.5 days free per week.Be a non smoker.
• Preferably have a valid driving license.
• Be willing to go to classes to learn Spanish.
• Be willing and able to adapt to another culture.
• Have a good sense of responsibility and a positive attitude.
• Be emotionally mature, flexible and able to adapt easily.

 IN YOUR AU PAIR WORLD YOU GET

• Your own comfortable room, shared or own bathroom
• Full board and lodge.
• Earn Euro 70 - 90 per week depending on age and experience

General Information.

JCR doesn't offer live out placements. All placements with a family are live in.

Attendance at a language school is a requirement of the visa for 6-12 month placements.  

Attendance at language school is optional for holders of an EU passport.
It is not a requirement for summer or winter aupair placements.

Winter aupair applicants will work in the ski fields at Baqueira Beret located in the Val d'Aran, one of the biggest and nicest ski resorts in Spain and at Catalan Pyrenees, the main city is Puigcerda, and ski resorts around it are: Masella, La Molina, Andorra.

Summer aupair applicants will match with families all over Spain.  

Families will want you to speak English to their children. If requested, the host parents will speak Spanish to the au pair to help them learn the language. We suggest that all applicants have at least 200 words of basic Spanish before they leave. Knowing some vocabulary will help you to settle in. There are good books and internet sites to learn from.Try www.rosettastone.com.

Families in Spain do not provide health insurance cover.

Families in Spain do not contribute to airfare.

Families in Spain do not pay towards the cost of language school.

The student /aupair visa process takes about 4-6 weeks from time of matching with a family.

This does not apply to holders of an EU passport or for summer or winter short term placement aupairs.

JCR will provide full information regarding the visa to Spain when speaking to you.

The amount paid to you is pocket money and should be accepted as that. It is suggested that should you wish to travel in Europe, you take additional money with you or a debit card.

Spain is well placed to visit, Portugal, France, UK, Morocco, Andorra, UK by Ferry.

There is always a demand for aupairs and those with a qualification are highly valued. Families will give preference to applicants with the JCR childminding/aupair certificate. Obtain your aupair certificate now through the on-line JCR Aupair course. Benefit by being given priority placement.
